Microcurrent History

Specific Frequencies were thought to be developed in the early 1900’s
The ‘grandfathers’ of resonance therapy were Albert Abrams, MD Harry Van Gelder
We are uncertain how frequencies were derived and we are also uncertain of mechanisms of action
The 1920’s equipment was not microcurrent equipment as we know it.

Physical therapy equipment was introduced in 1979

The microcurrent current is measured in millionths of an ampere this creates physiologic subsensory current which patients cannot feel.

Some of the traditional Microcurrent uses were to
  • Stimulate acupuncture points
  • Pain control
  • Heal non-union fractures
  • Increase wound healing
  • Increase healing in injured athletes
